AFRIKADAA (association sénégalaise fondée en 2012), est une plateforme d’échange, un espace déterritorialisé au sein duquel artistes et acteurs de la création contemporaine interrogent esthétique et éthique face aux enjeux majeurs de la mondialisation. AFRIKADAA place l’art contemporain dans une perspective de réflexion globale au-delà des politiques culturelles. L’association a à son actif l’organisation de plusieurs évènements au sein de la Biennale de Dakar depuis 2012. Pour cette 13ème édition du Partcours, AFRIKADAA propose au public de découvrir la ville à travers des balades mêlant histoire et architecture.

AFRIKADAA, a Senegalese institution founded in 2012, is an exchange platform, a deterritorialized space in which contemporary artists and creators question aesthetics and ethics in the face of major globalization challenges. AFRIKADAA places contemporary art in a global reflection perspective that goes beyond cultural policies. Since 2012, the institution has organized several events for the Dakar Biennial. For Partcours’ 13th edition, AFRIKADAA gives the public the opportunity to discover the city through strolls combining history and architecture.

Dans l’archipel de la culture à Dakar l’atelier de Mauro Petroni est sans doute le plus ancien espace privé à être un lieu établi d’expositions.
Son premier évènement artistique date de mai 1991 : depuis, dans ce même endroit, plus de cinquante expositions ont eu lieu, sans compter tout ce qui a été organisé hors les murs. Plus de trente ans après, à l’occasion de la 15ème Biennale de Dakar et du 13ème Partcours, l’atelier innove dans une collaboration avec une galerie italienne spécialisée en art contemporain africain : « Lis10 ». Crée en 2019 dans la ville d’Arezzo en Toscane par Alberto Chiavacci et Nicola Furini, avec la collaboration curatoriale d’Alessandro Romanini, en peu d’années cet espace s’est affirmé sur la scène internationale, à travers la participation aux manifestations les plus importantes d’art africain, foires, biennales et galeries parallèles. Afin de donner un rayon plus large à ses actions le groupe ouvre en 2023 une antenne à Paris, et bientôt à Hong Kong.

In Dakar’s cultural enclave, Mauro Petroni’s Workshop is probably the oldest private space to be an established exhibition venue.
Its first artistic event dates back to May 1991 and since then, more than fifty exhibitions have taken place in the Workshop, to say nothing of everything that has been organized beyond the walls. More than thirty years later, for the 15th Dakar Biennale and the 13th Partcours, the Workshop is innovating by collaborating with « Lis10 », an Italian gallery specializing in contemporary African art. Created in 2019 in the city of Arezzo in Tuscany by Alberto Chiavacci and Nicola Furini, with the curatorial collaboration of Alessandro Romanini, the space has in recent years established itself on the international art scene by participating in the most important events of African art: fairs, biennials and parallel galleries. The group opened a branch in Paris in 2023 to broaden its activities, and will soon open a new branch in Hong Kong.

« Espace Médina » se niche à la rue 33 x 10 et 6 au coeur de la Médina de Dakar, et se dresse, tel un poème vivant, un sanctuaire d’art et de mémoire, où la liberté créatrice danse avec l’existence.

Tissant les fils de la vie depuis plus de 50 ans, au sein de la famille Traoré, Espace-Médina, phare culturel historique aux mille récits sans cesse renouvelés, reste un repère lumineux où chaque mur murmure les échos du passé et les espérances d’un projet toujours centré sur l’art de la cité, à savoir l’humain, le cosmos et les merveilles de la vie. Penc-mi, ancienne salle de cinéma et de dancing, est-il également ce haut lieu mitoyen à l’Espace Médina, devant abriter la section 2 de ce programme 2024 ?

Espace Medina is nestled at the crossing of 33rd street and 10 and 6th street in the heart of the Medina of Dakar, and, like a living poem, is a sanctuary of art and memory, where creative freedom tangos with existence.

Weaving the threads of life for more than 50 years within the Traoré family, Espace Medina, a historic cultural beacon with a thousand constantly renewed stories, remains a luminous landmark where each wall whispers the echoes of the past and the hopes of a project centered on the art of the city, namely man, the cosmos, and the wonders of life. Should Penc-mi, a renown former cinema and dance hall adjoining Espace Medina, also be a place to host section 2 of this 2024 program?

La galerie Arte a été fondée à Dakar en 1996 par Joëlle le Bussy ; elle est ainsi une des premières galeries d’art contemporain africain & design au Sénégal.
Dans l’espace lumineux de la Galerie se côtoient l’art, le design et l’artisanat d’art. Son concept est de valoriser la créativité artistique contemporaine du continent africain.
La Galerie propose régulièrement des expositions d’artistes plasticiens réputés et de nouveaux talents. Elle participe activement à tous les événements majeurs d’art visuels du Sénégal depuis 27 ans. Un bon nombre d’artistes reconnus aujourd’hui ont débuté en accrochant leurs œuvres, pour une première fois, aux cimaises de la galerie.

Occasionnellement, la Galerie Arte organise durant l’année des expositions « hors murs », à Saint-Louis ou à Saly, dans des lieux polyvalents. La Galerie présente également des objets et du mobilier design ; elle est spécialisée en marqueterie d’essences de bois précieux d’Afrique. Arte est ainsi la vitrine de la création artistique contemporaine d’Afrique.

The Arte gallery was founded in Dakar in 1996 by Joëlle le Bussy, and is one of the first contemporary African art & design galleries in Senegal.
In the Gallery’s bright space, art, design, and artistic craft come together. It strives to promote the contemporary artistic creativity of the African continent.
The Gallery hosts exhibitions regularly, from well-known visual artists as well as from new talents. It has actively been a part of every major visual art event in Senegal for the past 27 years. Many current renowned artists began by hanging their works, for the first time, on the Gallery’s walls.

On occasion, the Arte Gallery organizes “off-site” exhibitions throughout the year, in multidisciplinary locations of Saint-Louis or Saly. The Gallery also presents designer objects and furniture, and specializes in precious African wood marquetry. Arte is a showcase for African contemporary artistic creation.

Fondée par Aïssa Dione, La Galerie Atiss Dakar a ouvert lors de la première Biennale de Dakar en 1996. Depuis, la galerie est un acteur incontournable de chaque édition de Dak’Art, mettant en valeur une large gamme d’artistes contemporains du Sénégal et d’Afrique.

Elle participe également à d’importants événements artistiques internationaux. À travers ses actions, la Galerie Atiss Dakar cherche à promouvoir le travail des artistes africains auprès d’un public plus vaste et à encourager les échanges interculturels.

Founded by Aïssa Dione, the Atiss Dakar Gallery opened in 1996 during the Dakar Biennale. Since then, the gallery has continued to promote artists from Senegal as well as a large number of artists from Africa and abroad.

The gallery has participated in all of the Dak’Art Biennials since its opening, has carried out numerous collaborations with curators from the African continent, and participates in well-known art fairs such as Art Paris Art Fair, 1-54 (London and New York), and Art Dubai.

L’espace d’exposition de l’Institut français du Sénégal à Dakar accueille des expositions monographiques et collectives d’artistes sénégalais, français et internationaux, mais aussi des actions interdisciplinaires ouvertes aux autres champs de l’art (performance, design, mode, architecture).Depuis sa création en 2005, la galerie a accompagné plus de 200 artistes.

Avec plus d’une centaine d’expositions à son actif (dans et hors les murs), et sept participations à la Biennale de Dakar, elle s’est inscrite dans le paysage artistique de cette ville d’art et d’histoire, et a contribué activement à écrire une page des arts visuels au Sénégal.

Elle a succédé à la Galerie 39, sise au 39, avenue William Ponty, ou de nombreux artistes s’étaient illustrés. Réhabilitées par le cabinet d’architectes Ga2d, ces anciennes écuries de l’armée française ont embrassé une nouvelle vocation pour offrir aux artistes cet espace d’exposition de 350 m2 à Dakar. Le lieu a été réaménagé en 2022-2023, avec notamment un projet de végétalisation de la cour porté par le collectif Worofila, spécialisé dans l’architecture en terre et bioclimatique.

The exhibition space located in the French Institute of Senegal in Dakar hosts monographic and collective exhibitions of Senegalese, French, and international artists, as well as interdisciplinary works open to other art fields (performance, design, fashion, architecture).Since its creation in 2005, the gallery has supported more than 200 artists.

 With more than a hundred exhibitions (inside and outside the walls), and seven participations in the Dakar Biennale, it is part of the artistic landscape of the city of art and history, and has been a major contributor to visual arts in Senegal.

It succeeded Galerie 39, located at 39, avenue William Ponty, where many artists have made their mark. Restored by the Ga2d architectural firm, the former French army stables have adopted a new mission and are offering artists a 350 m2 exhibition space in Dakar. The site was redesigned in 2022-2023, with a revegetation of the courtyard project carried out by the Worofila collective which specializes in earthen and bioclimatic architecture.

Structure créée en 1983, la GNA contribue au développement des arts visuels dans toutes leurs diversités.

La mission essentielle de celle-ci est de faire la promotion des artistes et des arts visuels au Sénégal et à l’étranger. Elle propose un programme diversifié (expositions et animation scientifique) et organise tous les deux ans, le salon national des arts visuels. Ce dernier est un baromètre à l’aune duquel, la création plastique nationale est évaluée, à la faveur des rencontres- échanges et des expositions. La Galerie Nationale d’Art, dans le sillage de ses missions, entend impulser une dynamique féconde à l’expression plastique nationale et tient donc un rôle prépondérant dans le développement de la scène culturelle sénégalaise.

With a prestigious past both in terms of its history and its culture, Senegal presents countless prospects for cultural development, including the National Gallery of Art (GNA). The structure was created in 1983 and contributes to the development of visual arts in all their diversity.

Its essential mission is to promote artists and visual arts in Senegal and abroad.
